Youth Education
The KACD Conservation Education and Youth Committee is an active, functioning committee of the Kansas Association of Conservation Districts (KACD). KACD has been active for over 50 years in promoting the conservation of our natural resources. The 525 volunteer district supervisors and over 150 conservation district employees recognize the need to provide scholarships and other recognition to promote stewardship efforts.
Kansas Envirothon
The Kansas Envirothon is an outdoor, environmental competition for high school students. Teams of five engage in hands-on learning, and are tested on soils, forestry, wildlife, aquatics, a current issue, and an oral presentation.
Annual Local District Contests
The KACD Education & Youth committee facilitates the annual KACD area and state speech contests as well as the state conservation poster, limerick, essay and conservation photo contest.
Youth Field Events
Our local conservation districts offer a variety of educational conservation events for Kansas' youth to learn about soil, wildlife, forestry, water, farm safety, the earth, rangeland, erosion and much more.
Youth Scholarships
The KACD Education & Youth Committee offers scholarships for Kansas college juniors and seniors majoring in agronomy, range management, natural resources, or closely related fields.
