Production Ag

The Kansas Association of Conservation Districts and the state's 105 conservation districts deliver tools and programs that strengthen farmland preservation, soil health, and our agricultural economy.

Production agriculture refers to the practice of cultivating crops and raising livestock for the purpose of producing food, fiber, fuel, and other agricultural products. Production ag involves the systematic and organized management of land, resources, and processes to efficiently grow crops and raise animals that contribute to the overall food supply and economy. It's worth noting that production agriculture can vary widely in scale, from hobby farms to small family farms, and even to large commercial operations. The methods and technologies used in production agriculture have evolved over time, influenced by advances in science, technology, and societal demands.

Many conservation districts offer seed sales.  Custom blended seed orders can be placed for CRP, pollinator habitat, and other conservation programs.  The conservation districts often order brome, fescue, clover and other pasture and range seedings options. Visit with your local office about seed availability and pricing.

Most conservation districts promote the Kansas Forest Service Conservation Tree Planting Program which offers tree and shrub seedlings, as well as other items for use in conservation plantings. Plantings may function as wildlife habitat, windbreaks, wood lots, timber plantations, or educational and riparian (streambank) plantings. A few conservation districts also offer tree planting services.
