Producers

Today, through voluntary conservation programs, KACD helps producers, conservation districts, and other partners protect and conserve natural resources on private lands throughout Kansas. With 105 conservation districts in Kansas, KACD and other USDA employees work side-by-side with producers in every area of our state.

In agriculture, a producer refers to an individual, business, or entity that is engaged in the cultivation of crops or the raising of livestock for the purpose of producing agricultural products. These products can include food, fiber, fuel and other materials that contribute to the overall agricultural and food supply.

Producers can learn more about, or apply for, programs available in their county by contacting their local conservation district.

Producers play a central role in the agricultural industry by managing various aspects of the production process, including: crop cultivation, livestock production, resource management, market engagement, environmental stewardship and risk management. Producers contribute significantly to the global food supply, economic development, and rural communities. They are essential participants in the agricultural value chain, working in collaboration with other stakeholders, including agribusinesses, researchers, extension services, and policymakers, to ensure a stable and secure food system.
