Stream Trailer

The stream trailer is a mobile exhibit that allows conservation district staff to bring the stream to your classroom.  The stream trailer allows students to observe erosion and the natural movement of streams. Water is pumped through the trailer to create a stream in the ground plastic material used to mimic soil. The stream trailer is used to discuss erosion, streambank stabilization, flooding, groundwater pollution, and runoff from feeding sites, cropland and residential areas.

Stream trailers are located in the following counties.

  • Finney Co (Garden City)
  • Graham Co (Hill City)
  • Neosho Co (Erie)
  • Ottawa Co (Minneapolis)
  • Reno Co (Hutchinson)
  • Riley Co (Manhattan)
  • Sedgwick Co (Wichita)
  • Shawnee Co (Topeka)
  • Wilson Co (Fredonia)
  • Hillsdale Watershed (Jo, Dg, Mi, Fr)

Some stream trailers may not travel out of their county. Contact your local conservation district if you are interested in a presentaiton with the stream trailer.
