Kansas Reservoir Protection Initiative (KRPI)

KRPI is another state funded initiative available through conservation districts within priority areas to assist local landowners with implementing sediment reducing conservation practices above federal reservoirs.  Funding is appropriated directly from the Kansas Water Plan through the Kansas Water Office. Conservation districts serve as the boots on the group agency to process applications, assess resource concerns, provide oversight on project implementation and process payments once eligible practices have been implemented.

Limited funding is available annually in targeted federal reservoir watershed. To learn more about KRPI contact your local conservation district or visit the Kansas Reservoir Protection Initiative page on the Kansas Water Office website.

In SFY24 funding was available in the Tuttle Creek Lake (Kansas Region), Fall River Lake (Verdigris Region), John Redmond Reservoir (Neosho Region), Kanopolis Lake (Smoky Hill-Saline Region), Perry (Kansas Region), Pomona (Marais des Cygnes Region), and Hillsdale (Marais des Cygnes Region) watersheds as highlighted on the map below.
