Annual County Conservation Contests
The KACD Conservation Education and Youth Committee recognizes the need to provide educational opportunities for youth while promoting stewardship efforts for tomorrows leaders. To reach youth across the state with our conservation message the Conservation Education and Youth committee facilitates annual conservation contests for youth, including area and state speeches; state conservation poster, limerick and essay; as well as the conservation photography.
The education and youth committee works with county conservation districts to assist them in facilitating county level conservation contest for
- posters
- limericks
- essay
- speech
- photography contests.
Local winners represent their county in the statewide contest with winners being recognized each November at the Annual KACD Convention. State winners in some catagories are then sent on to the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) contests, with national winners being announced each February in conjunction with the NACD Annual Meeting.
The committee also encourages youth who are pursuing a career in conservation and natural resource fields by providing scholarships for college students.
