Establishment of a State Conservation Fund

KACD is a member of the Kansans for Conservation; a coalition of diverse organizations working collaboratively since 2017 to ensure a healthy and sustainable future for Kansas, focused on water, land, outdoor recreation, and environmental education resources for Kansans.  The colation has prepared a summary sheet which includes a list of current members (as of 1/22/24)

Legislative Update

House Bill 2541 was introduced the week of January 16, 2024 by Representative Doug Blex on behalf of the Kansans for Conservation Coalition. HB 2541 was drafted by the coalition and seeks to establish a state conservation fund.  Executive Summary of the bill.

Hearing Held January 22nd

Kansans for Conservation was able to secure a hearing for HB 2541 on Monday, January 22nd at 3:30pm in the House Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources. The hearing can be viewed on the legislature's website or YouTube channel.
